Fernleigh House

December 13, 2014

Location: Rose Bay NSW

With a northeast aspect and panoramic harbour views from all its main rooms, the existing house had a workable layout, but the client wanted to create a stronger connection between the interior and outdoor areas. They also wanted some additional space, and improved comfort and luxury throughout. Extensions were designed to add volumes without visual bulk: sandstone at ground level, copper in curved panels with over-scaled windows for greater connection to the setting. Existing windows were altered and skylights added to open up existing sections to natural light. Indoor/outdoor thresholds were softened with the addition of sliding glass doors.
