Camilla & Marc

December 10, 2014

Location: Paddington NSW

For the Camilla & Marc boutique, in a row of heritage terraces, the fit out is French classic with a twist. The brief came with a modest budget and allowed minimal intervention to the interior building fabric, so the design response called for inventiveness to achieve the desired effect. The design uses simple core elements, period detailing, mirror-paneling and a palette of white with shades of grey to create a signature elegance. Change rooms are built at the rear, leaving the salon dressed for display with a single brass hanging rail, a reupholstered Louis XIV armchair, and a sales counter designed as a wall-mounted dressing stand. The decorative flourishes are offset by a polished concrete floor with brass inlay and subtle studio-style track lighting. The shop front is a recreation in the style of the original building.
