Bronte House

December 11, 2014

Location: Bronte NSW

In the renovation of this house, previously separate living zones were connected via an internal void incorporating a mid-level deck and pool. The house enjoys views over Bronte beach, and the material finishes reference the archetypal Sydney beach house. At street level, the fortifying wall of the garage is cut sandstone, a nod to local escarpments. The façade above is fitted with custom timber screens that are both decorative and functional, providing privacy and sun shading, while lending the façade a certain presence and privacy from the street.
