Sandridge Apartments

Proposed are three 2-bedroom and three 3-bedroom apartments over three levels, capped by a 2-bedroom penthouse to roof level. The site offers views east to the ocean, but has limited opportunity to capitalise on northern solar access due to a neighbour immediately to the north. The proposal therefore, is to organise living spaces along the north boundary, orientated to the northwest and northeast and put sleeping areas along the south boundary, orientated to the south, west and east, using large glazed openings where beneficial to maximise solar gain and cross ventilation. Each floor plate accommodates two apartments arranged around a vertical circulation core to the centre of the site and the building facades will be modulated to accommodate strategically orientated glazing and minimise the overall visual bulk to the street and surrounds.
