Boambillee House

December 11, 2014

Location: Vaucluse NSW

This project is divided into two pavilions, set within a densely landscaped pocket: one anchored low towards the rear, the other reaching up towards the front. Staggering the two forms increases solar access to the interior and creates space for two large gardens in diagonal corners on the site. One pavilion houses the sleeping quarters, the other contains the kitchen, living and entertaining areas. The two are connected by a delicate recessed structure that also serves as the entry. Both pavilions harness north sun through clerestory windows at the rear.
